Nomad Spring Program 2012

This Year Nomad’s lacrosse will have the same registration process.  All participants will sign-up through the Manalapan recreation department either on line, in person (at the recreation office) or at one of the two registration events.  The events will be held through February.  See OPEN HOUSE on the web page.  The cost to join Nomad lacrosse is $120 per player 3-8th grade initially.  The $120 dollar fee provides your child with all the benefits of playing for our recreation program (see Recreation Program) along with access to the preseason practices and Travel Team tryouts.  Pre-season practices(depending on weather)  will be held on March 3,4th and 9,10thth. We will be adding an extra Tryout Sunday March 11th for our travel teams.  The travel teams will consist of 3-4, 5-6 and 7-8th grade teams.  We are hoping to get two levels of travel teams this year.


First Level- Select Teams:  This team will Play in all our high profile games and tournaments throughout the CJYLL(Central Jersey Youth Lacrosse League) area.. The additional cost for the Select team will be $175 plus your us lacrosse membership. 
Second Level- Premier Teams: the cost will be an additional $100 plus your US lacrosse membership and referee costs.  The primer teams will play in the newly created CJYLL intra town league.   Again all players are welcome to play and take part in the Recreation practices and games.

Any wall will work, but a smooth concrete wall at least 10 feet tall is the best surface.

  - Use your gloves when performing this routine.

  - Stand about five yards from the wall.

  - Perform this routine 4 to 5 times a week for 15 to 20 minutes and your stick skills will improve a great deal in a very short   period of time.

USL Adopts Age-Appropriate Youth Rules

BALTIMORE, Sept. 15, 2011 — us-lacrosseThe US Lacrosse Board of Directors voted Saturday to approve age-appropriate, national playing rules for youth boys’ lacrosse and youth girls’ lacrosse, as recommended by the US Lacrosse Men’s and Women’s Game committees, respectively. The vote implements the rules for the 2012 season, including the annual US Lacrosse Regional and National Championships slated for June and July, respectively."Ensuring a positive youth lacrosse experience remains at the core of US Lacrosse’s operations, and passage of the youth rules represents an important first step in moving the youth game from good to great," said Lee Stevens, chair of the US Lacrosse Board of Directors.

Coaches, Player and Parent Conduct (Sportsmanship & Etiquette)

The essential elements of the ""Code of Conduct"" must be adhered to.


o Sportsmanship and teaching the concepts of fair play are essential to the game, and must be taught and developed both at home and on the field during practices and games.

o The value of good sportsmanship, concepts of fair play, and the skills of the game should never be placed before winning. 

o Derogatory comments are unacceptable. Use positive reinforcement with players and adults alike. It should be remembered that criticism, once made, can never be retracted.

o The safety and welfare of the players are of primary importance
